On a night where the Verizon Center and the Washington Wizards were celebrating Polish Heritage month, and with the New York Knicks beating the Detroit Pistons tonight. The Wizards found themselves in prime position to be able to take the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference.
With Paul George and the Pacers coming to town tonight the stage was set for a prime time match up. The last time Paul George came to the Verizon Center he had a whopping 40 points. Tonight he fell short and put up a total 38 points and 6 rebounds. There was a critical point in the game when Indiana was down by one in the 4th quarter with less than a minute to go, and as George was charging for the basket he got fouled by Allan Anderson which sent him to the free throw line for two shots.
He ended up making both of them.
With that being said it is important that we don’t gloss over the way the Wizards came out and played tonight in front of their home crowd. The Wizards were riding on a 6 home game winning streak, but fell short to the Pacers 100 to 99.
John Wall had himself another double – double tonight putting up 25 points and 12 assists. Gortat had 8 points and a whopping 17 rebounds in front of his visiting Polish natives from across the pond.
However, there teammate Bradley Beal went down in the 3rd quarter with a sprained pelvis and was not able to return to the game. The time table for his injury at the moment in unknown, but the Wizards will keep the public updated. This is a severe blow to the Wizards because the end of the regular season is nearing and they will need everyone healthy to be able to make a run for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Even with Allan Anderson returning to the line up at home tonight he will more probably have to be the one to step up tremendously.
In the coming days we will see how things turn out.
