Not exactly what we were expecting tonight, but then again I think we all kind of expected this performance from the Thunder. Wizards Head Coach Randy Wittman did not travel with the team because of the death of his older brother, and was spending time with his family. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family during this hard time.
So we finally got to see the match up between John Wall and Russell Westbrook, and as a lot of people were expecting Westbrook was the better man tonight. He finished with 17 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists completing his seventh triple double of the season. While John Wall had 17 points, 8 assists and 4 rebounds.
After coming off of a hard fought win in Houston the expectations of getting back to their winning ways was up, but the Thunder proved to be just too much for the Wizards tonight. Defensively they looked slow, and just got bulldozed by Kevin Durant who had 28 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists.
During certain moments in the game the Wizards just got flat out hustled. Not only that but the way the Thunder were playing against them made it seem like they didn’t even respect them at times. They were just doing what they wanted to do, and just looked to be untouchable tonight. Also, considering the fact that they were playing at home gave them an added boost.
With the Golden State Warriors coming to DC on Wednesday night, the Wizards need to not only rest up, but come into Wednesdays game with a new attitude. This is their biggest test of the season with the raining defending NBA Champions coming to town, and it is safe to say that this game will draw a lot of attention.
