A Thriller In Houston

Tonight the Wizards made their first of two road trips coming off a loss at home.

This day however did not start off with great news as Coach Randy Wittman lost his older brother earlier this morning.

The guys really wanted to get this win not just for themselves, but obviously for Coach Wittman.

Early on in the first quarter the Wizards did a good job of spreading the ball around, and getting everyone involved. Which was a very good strategy on the part of Coach Wittman so that the Rockets couldn’t single out just one guy on offense.

As always John Wall had himself a good game finishing with 19 points  with 13 assists. He also had some moments where he chased guys down from behind to block shots which is a testament to his effort. Jared Dudley who was really fired up after the Nuggets loss spoke up in a players only meeting before the game and basically asked his teammates “Are you doing enough?” And his teammates responded with a hard fought win tonight.

Dudley had 16 points along with 4 assists.

After halftime the Wizards started to come back, and a big reason why is because of Ramon Sessions who had 17 points to help the Wizards go on a 12-4 run in the third quarter. Also, things got very physical between NeNe and Dwight Howard who were both ejected in the fourth quarter. They had been going at it all game long, and they both finished their nights with 2 technical fouls a piece.

Late in the fourth John Wall tied the game up at 117 to bring his team back into the game. Once they found their rhythm there was no stopping them. Despite a late effort by James Harden who had a good game with 40 points couldn’t hit the game winning shot and the Wizards held on to win 123 to 122.

Next they travel to Oklahoma City to take on the Thunder, which will showcase an interesting match up between John Wall, and Russell Westbrook.
