Jags Are Moving On While The Steelers Head To The Couch

By-Brandon Williams

The new look Jacksonville Jaguars have come into Heinz field and beaten the Steelers for the second time this season, after a 45-42 victory this past Sunday setting them up with a date to face the New England Patriots.

The Jaguars in Week five of the regular season beat the Steelers in dominating fashion by a score of 30-9. The main reason why the jaguars won that game was because of the five interceptions that Steelers’ quarterback Ben Roethlisberger threw, and two of those interceptions were taken to the house for touchdowns.

The emotions after that game were very high, and the person that was frustrated the most was Big Ben.

“Maybe I don’t have it anymore” said Roethlisberger.

The doubts started to creep in as to whether or not the Steelers would have a good season that would translate into a playoff berth, but thanks to some late season heroics the black and gold were able to get into the playoffs, and their first game would be against the very team that has haunted them since week five.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The Jaguars jumped to a fast 21 to 0 lead over the Steelers’ leaving many of their fans stunned and dismayed. The defense just didn’t have an answer for the offense, especially rookie running back Leonard Fournette who had 25 carries for 109 yards rushing and three touchdowns in the first half alone. However, the Steelers started to chop at the Jags lead and went into halftime with the score being 28 to 14.

During the second half the Steelers started to make more big plays to try to take the lead, but the Jaguars defense refused to lay down and kept on fighting.

Even in a losing effort Roethlisberger showed grit, and continued to drive his team downfield in the last moments of the game. He set a record for the most touchdown passes thrown in a losing effort in a playoff game with five touchdowns.

MY TAKEAWAY

This was a perfect opportunity for both team. It was the perfect opportunity for the Steelers to rewrite the wrong they feel happened back in week five, and it was the perfect opportunity for the Jaguars to get back to being one of the NFL’s top teams. This is a game that Jaguars will remember, and a game that Steeler nation wants to forget.
