One of the SEC’s premiere teams in the University of Georgia Bulldogs walked into the Georgia dome this evening looking to make a statement against the North Carolina Tarheels.

One of the nation’s top running backs in Nick Chubb made his return to the field after coming off a season ending knee injury. He suffered the injury last season against the Tennessee Volunteers.

Chubb was the energizer bunny for not just the Bulldogs offense, but he was the spark plug for that team. Losing him was the most detrimental thing that could have happened to the Bulldogs and many were uncertain if he would return for another season.

However, with a full offseason to rehab and get back to his old form, it payed dividends today against North Carolina.

The game went back and forth for a good portion of the first half. That was until Chubb scored the game’s first touchdown. Despite this the Tarheels did not go away quietly and answered back with a touchdown of their own plus a field goal in the 2nd quarter.

After halftime UNC came out of the locker room firing thanks to T.J. Logan Jr who scored on a punt return for a touchdown that gave them the lead, but Logans work didn’t stop there. Later on in the Tarheels next offensive series he scored on a 21 yard touchdown run to extend their lead even more.

At this point Georgia is down by 10 and all hope seemed to be lost. But they rallied back and took the lead after a huge shift in momentum. Which started with Isaiah McKenzie running 17 yards for a touchdown.

The rally didn’t stop there as the number one recruit in the nation quarterback Jacob Eason came in the game for Grayson Lambert and threw his first collegiate touchdown to McKenzie.

At this point the score is 26-24 Georgia leading.

The Tarheels had a chance to drive down the field and score, and looked to have converted on third down , but upon further review it was ruled “not a catch” (So what is a catch now a days?)

Then on Georgia’s next offensive possession, Nick Chubb ran 55 yards for the game sealing touchdown making the score 33-24. Chubb finished with 32 carries for 222 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The Georgia Bulldogs are now 1-0 under new head coach Kirby Smart.
