The Wizards were back on the road again tonight going up against the New York Knicks, who just today fired second year Head Coach Derek Fisher after just 2 seasons. The Knicks have quietly been improving this season with the addition of first round draft pick Kristaps Porzingis who has stepped into his own as one of the premiere players on the Knicks roster.
Coming off their loss at Charlotte in which they gave up a 19 point lead, the Wizards had yet another close call tonight against the Knicks. Despite being in control for a good portion of the game late in the fourth quarter when it counted the most the Knicks came within just one point of taking the lead.
Langston Galloway dropped a 3 pointer which brought the score to 107 – 106 with :33 seconds left to go in the 4th.
However, despite the late rally by New York the Wizards held on to win the game 111 – 108.
For the second straight game in a row the Wizards had a lead that was cut right in half by their opposition. For as long as Wizards fans can remember this has been one of their teams struggles as of late. With All – Star weekend nearing this means that the home stretch for the regular season is almost here. Which means that it will be crunch time for the red, white and blue.
Speaking of All – Stars John Wall had 28 points, 5 rebounds and a whopping 17 assists, while his running buddy Bradley Beal had 26 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists. Beal returned to the starting lineup tonight even though he is still on a minutes restriction, and is still wearing a protective plastic mask until his broken nose heals. Once he returns to full strength the Wizards will be a force to be reckoned with.
Next the Wizards travel to Milwaukee to take on the Bukcs on Thursday night at 8 pm.
