Russell Westbrook : Making History

Oklahoma City Thunder Point Guard Russell Westbrook is a very exciting and energetic player to watch. At the early stages of the 2014-2015 NBA season he was a little quiet. However all of that changed when his teammate and Oklahoma City Thunder Small Forward Kevin Durant went down with a foot injury. Ever since then Russell Westbrook has been impressing a lot of people.

It all started at NBA All-Star Weekend. During the first half of the 2014-2015 NBA All-Star Game Westbrook set a record for first half points scored with 27 points. For the whole game he had 41 points which was one point shy of Wilt Chamberlain’s All-Star game record.

Russell won the MVP award for the game because of his All-Star performance. Ever since then he has been putting up monster numbers on a nightly basis. For Example when Oklahoma City Thunder went up against the Philadelphia 76ers Westbrook scored 49 points, with 10 assists and 16 rebounds. The final score of the game was 123-118. This was his fourth triple-double in a row. No other player has had consecutive triple doubles since Michael Jordan back in 1989 when he was with the Chicago Bulls.

Unfortunately Westbrooks hot streak came to an end last night against the Chicago Bulls in a crushing 108 to 105 loss.

Even though Russell Westbrook’s streak is over I think he has made a name for himself in the MVP race and as a leader for the Oklahoma City Thunder. The next time the OKC plays is against the Toronto Raptors on March 8, 2015 at 7pm. Hope you guys will be watching. I most defintely will!!!
